First batch of MH17 victims to arrive on Aug 22, declared as national day of mourning

PUTRAJAYA: The remains of Malaysian victims onboard Flight MH17 will be brought back on August 22, which has been declared a national day of mourning.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said a total of 15 bodies would be brought home and arrangements have been made to fly home the remains in a special aircraft.

Other aircraft and helicopters will be used to transport remains of victims to their hometown, he said.

He said out of the 15 victims, six of them were Muslims.

There was also a request for a Dutch victim to be buried in Malaysia.
