Rumours on Hasnul and Saari unfounded, Pas leaders not amused

SHAH ALAM: A wave of rumours surrounding the two Pas defectors in Selangor, Saari Sungib (Hulu Klang) and Hasnul Baharuddin (Morib) was rampant, just a day before the party's crucial meeting that will decide its alliance in the state's political crisis.

According to the chain message distributed through Whatsapp, Saari was said to be rushed to the National Heart Institute (IJN) on Friday for heart complications and was in a critical condition.

A source from IJN however, dismissed the rumour and confirmed that the assemblyman was never admitted to IJN.

Another chain message concerning Hasnul also spread like wildfire.

He was said to have become a victim of a break-in and suffered losses amounting to RM250,000 in cash.

Pas Youth chief Suhaizan Kaiat dismissed the rumour.

"When I received the Whatsapp message, I contacted Saari's son and he said that Saari was healthy and resting at home for the weekend.

"People should stop spreading such rumours especially in light of such a controversial and demanding situation that Pas assemblymen are in now.

"Please sympathise for the assemblymen's family (Saari and Hasnul) as they are not a part of the crisis. I was told that their family members were affected and hurt by the rumours," he said.

Pas Youth had last Thursday urged the party leadership to take stern action against the duo for their pledge of support for PKR president Datin Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail without the party's knowledge.

The two had vouched for Wan Azizah to be the next Selangor menteri besar and was seen as an act of defiance against Pas who had since the first day expressed its support for the incumbent Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.

When asked to confirm about the rumour on Hasnul, Suhaizan said that he had not heard of the rumour but said he would know if such incident happened to a Pas assemblyman.

He further laughed off the rumours and said that, "It's not possible for them to be 'punished' almost immediately after what they did to the party. This is not a P. Ramlee's film,".

Although Saari was unable to be contacted, Hasnul responded.

When contacted on the prospect of the meeting tomorrow and whether they would face disciplinary actions by the party, Hasnul said that he preferred to 'keep silent'.

He added that the decision to 'keep silent' was not forced upon him.

He also said that Saari is fine and not in IJN as rumoured.

On the rumour surrounding him, Hasnul lighten up and said, "I only have RM250 in my wallet".

Responding through text messages, Hasnul added several comedic emojis, such as the emoji of a monkey covering its eyes, to express his amusement over the rumour.
