Cabbies fly the Jalur Gemilang

KUALA LUMPUR: The Taxi Drivers Welfare Association of Selangor and Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur recently held a flag flying ceremony at KLIA’s long-term car park (LTCP) in conjunction with the 57th Independence Day celebration.

More than 130 flags were distributed to taxi drivers during the event.

Also present was Land Public Transport Commission chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar.

“We value these kinds of initiatives put out by associations as it helps to promote a sense of unity among citizens and heighten their love for the country,” said Syed Hamid.

He said SPAD has been continuously working to revolutionise and improve taxi services in line with the nation’s development.

“The commission emphasises on ensuring the welfare of all taxi drivers and hope to overcome issues concerning them.

“In return, we also wish that these drivers will give full cooperation in any of SPAD’s efforts which are carried out for the betterment of the public transport industry,” he added.
