Two men plead guilty to drug charges

MALACCA: Two men pleaded guilty at the Magistrate's Court here yesterday to a separate charge of taking drugs at two separate location last May.

Magistrate Mohd Firdaus Saleh fined Ahmad Yatimie Ahmad Ghazi, 24, and Mohd Afendi Isa, 40, RM1,500 in default of three months jail and ordered them to be placed under the authority supervision for two years.

Yatimie from Pasir Mas, Kelantan was charged with taking the drug methamphetamine at Malim police station at 4.50am on May 11, 2014 while Afendi from Taman Krubong Jaya here was allegedly committed the same offence at Melaka Tengah district police headquarters at 4.40am on the same date.

They were charged under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a maximum fine of RM5,000 or two years' jail or both and mandatory supervision up to three years, if convicted.

Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Ashraf Abd Hamid prosecuted while both the accused were unrepresented.
