Remains of MRT workers arrive in Bangladesh

KUALA LUMPUR: The remains of the three victims of Monday’s night incident at the Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT) worksite near Kota Damansara have arrived in Bangladesh this morning.

The remains of Mohamad Faruk Khan, 38, Mohammad Alauddin Mollik, 34 and Mohammad Elahi Hossain, 27 arrived at the Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 8.00am Malaysian time today.

The remains were sent off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 3.00am.

Present during the send-off was MRT Corp Acting Chief Executive Officer Haris Fadzilah Hassan and Director of Strategic Communications and Public Relations Amir Mahmood Razak.

MRT Corp in a statement expressed its gratitude to the Bangladesh High Commission for their cooperation and assistance in arranging the repatriation of the remains.

It also revealed that the commission is also in contact with the families of the victims for the following arrangements.

"MRT Corp expresses its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and regrets the unfortunate incident," it said.

It added that investigations were underway to determine the cause of the incident.

"Once completed, action will be taken against the responsible party."
