Sombre mood as Mohammad Amirulfaris' remains arrive home

SEREMBAN: A sombre atmosphere enveloped the residence of the late Lieutenant Commander Mohammad Amirulfaris Mohamad Marzukhi, as his body arrived at 9.05pm tonight.

His remains were brought by Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) personnel for family members to pay their last respects.

Mohammad Amirulfaris' mother, father and wife as well as his two children could not contain their grief.

The body was taken to the At-Taufiqiah Mosque, Taman Pinggiran Senawang, at 9.30pm for funeral prayers, with Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun also joining the congregation.

The burial ceremony at the Senawang Muslim Cemetery concluded at 11pm.

Mohammad Amirulfaris leaves behind his wife, Siti Aisyah Mohd Roslan and two children, Umar Fayyadh and Ammar Affan.

In the incident at 9.32am yesterday. two armed forces helicopters crashed following a mid-air collision in Lumut, Perak.

All 10 crew members perished in the crash.

The helicopters, an Agusta Westland AW139 Maritime Operations Helicopter (HOM) and a Eurocopter Fennec, had collided during a mid-air manoeuvre during a flypast training for the RMN's 90th-anniversary celebrations. – BERNAMA
