MH17: Mother of stewardess relieved her remains arriving today

KUALA LUMPUR: “It’s like I’m living again,” said a relieved Hamlah Hassan, the mother of MH17 stewardess Hamfazlin Sham Mohamed Arifin, 37, upon knowing that her remains would be among those of 20 victims arriving this morning.

Hamlah, 61, said before hearing the news, she kept praying that her daughter’s remains would be found and brought back to Malaysia.

“Everyday I’ve been watching the news to get updates and prayed that I could see her remains. In the end, my prayers are answered and the relevant authorities have informed that her remains were complete,” she said.

According to Hamlah, before burial at the Batu Muda cemetery in Gombak, Hamfazlin Sham’s remains would be taken to the family home in Wangsa Maju.

“We will wait at the house and my daughters’s remains will then be taken to the nearby mosque for funeral prayers. Her remains will be buried after Friday prayers,” she said.--BERNAMA
