#Showbiz: Siti relieved students of her Gaza school are safe

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite the continuous bombing of Gaza by the Israeli army, pop queen Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza's school for Palestinian children has remained untouched.

The Afwa Al-Afiyah School founded by Siti's humanitarian organisation Yayasan Nurjiwa three years ago currently has 100 students and 10 teachers.

In an Instagram post yesterday, Siti said that she was relieved to hear that the school remained intact and none of its students or teachers were harmed.

"All of them have been told to move to southern Gaza where it is safer. It is sad to see them relocate and set up a temporary school from scratch, but what is most important is none of them has been harmed," said Siti, urging Malaysians to continue praying for the Palestinians.

Siti added that her foundation had sent blankets, clothing and foodstuffs for the students and teachers of the school.

They were also monitoring the situation in Gaza closely with the help of their friend, a humanitarian worker known as Dr. Mohanad.

"There is poor internet coverage in Gaza, except at a hospital in the southern part of the territory."

Siti called on Malaysians to keep assisting the Palestinians via donations to her foundation and pray that the children will be able to return to their school's premises safely.
