MH17: Govt staff mourn the loss

SEREMBAN: More than 1,000 government staff from Wisma Negeri and Wisma Persekutuan observed a minute of silence to mourn for the victims of MH17 here today.

Earlier government staff watched the live telecast of the arrival of the bodies at Kuala Lumpur International Airport at the giant screen at Dewan Theatrette in Wisma Negeri.

Most of the staff wore black coloured clothing with the men wearing songkok.

They had assembled at the hall as early as 10am and started continued with recital of Al-Fatihah at 10:55am.

The function continued with the recital of doa led by Jabatan Hal Ehwal Khas (Jasa) representative, Habibullah Mohd Ali.

Meanwhile 60 firemen assembled at the Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department headquarters in Seremban 2 to observe a minute of silence at 10:45am.

Its state director Norazam Khamis said all 685 firemen stationed at firestations throughout Negri Sembilan also observed a minute of silence today morning.

"We started with the reading of Yassin at the tahlil ceremony at 8am followed with the one minute moment of silence at 10:45am and a recital of Al-Fatihah by Muslim firemen," he said today.
