TUMPAT: The remains of Barisan Nasional (BN) assemblyman for Pengkalan Kubur, Datuk Noor Zahidi Omar, was buried at 11.45pm at the cemetery in Kampung Surau, Pasir Pekan here last night.
His body was flown yesterday from China where he died at 5.45am while on treatment for liver cancer at Modern Specialist Centre in Guangzhou on Wednesday.
Noor Zahidi’s body was taken to his home at the village at about 10.40pm for prayers after arriving at Sultan Ismail Petra Airport in Kota Baru about 30 minutes earlier.
His family members and hundreds of other relatives and friends gathered at his house before accompanying his casket to the graveyard a short walk away.
Noor Zahidi was in his third term as the assemblyman for Pengkalan Kubur.
He is survived by his wife Datin Muna Abdul Karim and 12 children.
