RMAF to enhance training facilities

ALOR STAR: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) college will increase its fleet of training aircraft, by adding five more planes by year end. It will also train more instructors locally.

RMAF Chief Marshall (Rtd) Tan Sri Datuk Sulaiman Sujak said previously instructors needed to be trained overseas, but now they can be trained in Malaysia.

Its chief Tan Sri Rozali Daud said the college will be adding more instructors to its in house training programme with eight new instructor training programmes per intake over six months.

"Since 1966, 1,200 pilots have graduated from here with most of them joining the RMAF and some joining the army, navy and the Fire and Rescue department," said Rozali.

He was speaking at the 50th Golden Jubilee celebration of the RMAF Training Centre at the Royal Malaysian Air Force College, Kepala Batas. Also present was Group Captain John F. Woodard (Rtd) who was in charge of the college during its inception in Alor Star in 1964.
