Movie treat for underprivileged kids

GEORGE TOWN: GURNEY Paragon shopping mall in Penang celebrated its first anniversary recently with many charitable activities. One of them was taking underprivileged children for a movie.

The mall, in partnership with
TGV Cinemas, treated some 30 children from Rumah Kebajikan Seri
Cahaya to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

The children, aged five to 20 also received popcorns and beverages during the 90-minute movie.

After the movie, the children were treated to a scrumptious lunch, courtesy of TGI Friday’s restaurant.

The children also received goodie bags from Toy World.

T. Arvin, 14, said he was excited about the fun day out.

“This is my favourite movie but what I liked most was the popcorn,” he said. “It was my first time enjoying the snack.”

Chan Yong Seng, 7, said Gurney Paragon had made his dream come true because he had always wanted to watch the movie.

Hunza Properties Bhd group executive director Khor Tze Ming said the treat was part of the mall’’s corporate social responsibility to include underprivileged children in its festive celebrations.

“”We have lined up other exciting activities to celebrate the big day,” he said, adding that the mall would be holding a series of promotions and activities during the month-long celebration.
