KUALA LUMPUR: The former Federal Territories Mufti Datuk Md. Hashim Yahya passed away today at the A-Islam Specialist Hospital in Kampung Baru, here at about 1.50pm. He was 75.
An Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia (ABIM) spokesperson told the New Straits Times that his body was brought back to his house in Seksyen 9, Shah Alam.
"The place of burial had yet to be confirmed but it will take place in Shah Alam at about 5.30pm today," said the spokesperson.
Federal Territories Mufti Department, assistant mufti (astronomy unit), Khairul Anuar Yazid also confirmed Md Hashim’s death, and said that many of the department’s staff were informed about it this afternoon.
He said many of the department’s officers were now heading to Md Hashim’s house to pay their last respects.
