PM extends Federal Territories Day wishes to residents

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended his greetings to Federal Territories residents today.

"Wishing a joyful 50th anniversary to residents of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

"With this, let's cultivate unity, discard messages of hatred and embrace a spirit of love, compassion and mercy towards one another.

"This aligns with the Madani concept, emphasising our duty to care for all and collaborate in achieving the development agenda of our country.

"May the Federal Territories continue to progress, thrive and prosper," he said on Facebook.

Federal Territories Day is celebrated on Feb 1 every year to commemorate the declaration of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan as Federal Territories.

Kuala Lumpur was declared a Federal Territory in 1974, while Labuan in 1984 and Putrajaya in 2001.
