12 beauties vie to represent the country

SUBANG JAYA: TWELVE contestants are competing in ATV Miss Asia Pageant Malaysia 2014. The grand final is on Sept 12.

Miss Asia Pageant Malaysia franchise holder Amelia Liew said all the finalists were in their early twenties and most were from Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. She said one was from Perak and another was from Johor.

She said Joey Chung, 20, from Johor, was the youngest and the tallest at 172cm.

The oldest are freelance model Justina Au Yong and accounts assistant Gheeta. Both of them are 25 and from Kuala Lumpur.

Liew said the event was co-organised with Hong Kong television broadcaster Asia Television Limited (ATV) and A Media Production.

“We have been organising the event since 2012,” she said.

“The judges of this year’s grand finals include fitness coach and model John Oh, A Cut Above founder and creative director Datin Winnie Loo and Xpression Makeup Academy founder and creative director Taymie Chin.

“Oh will also act as a mentor for the finalists. Each of the finalists won themselves RM6,500 worth of prizes.

“The winner will walk away with RM30,000, the first runner-up with RM20,000 and the second runner-up with RM10,000. The winner and the first runner-up will represent thecountry at the ATV Miss Asia Pageant in Hong Kong this November,” she said.
