MH17: Capt Eugene showered us with love, says wife

SEREMBAN: "My husband was a man of few words, but he showered us with love through his actions," said Ivy Loi, the wife of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 pilot Captain Eugene Choo Jin Leong.

The 42-year-old housewife, whose 14 years of marriage with Eugene was blessed with two sons, said she would always remember the aviator as a caring husband and father.

Ivy said she met Eugene, who perished in the July 17 tragedy at age 45, when she was on duty as a cabin crew on board a MAS flight some 18 years ago.

"I still remember the day I met him... We were both on duty on board a flight bound for Melbourne, Australia in 1997.

"From there, we became friends before we started dating... Among the things that made me attracted to him was his coolness and kind attitude.

"We got married in 2000, and I resigned from MAS later that year when I was pregnant with Melvic," she told reporters when met during Eugene's wake services at their house in Sri Carcosa, Seremban 2 here earlier today.

Ivy said although Eugene might be busy at times due to his tight duty schedule, the husband had always put their family's wellbeing first.

The man would spend his offdays with her and their children - Melvic Choo, 13, and Scott Choo, 10.

"My husband was a person who showered our family with love by action... by spending our free time doing activities together.

"Sometimes, we would follow him to motorcycle tracks where he practised his riding skills. During weekdays, he and our sons would go for a jog, or took our dog for a walk around the neighbourhood.

"Melvic and Scott also shared the same interest in motorcycles, and Eugene had started teaching them to ride the machines."

Ivy said her family had come to terms with the incident, which she regarded as fated.

She said the incident has already happened, and she left the matters of investigations in the hands of the government.
