Fire station keyed up for hot action

KULAIJAYA: THE State Fire and Rescue department has expanded its reach and coverage in Kulaijaya with the completion of a new fire and rescue station there.

The RM10 million Bandar Putra Kulaijaya station built on a 1.477ha site in the Bandar Putra housing estate is set to serve more than 200,000 households in the area.

Johor Fire and Rescue department director Datuk Abdul Ghani Daud said the new station would make the firefighters better quipped to handle fire and rescue situations in the district.

He said previously, Kulaijaya relied on the Kulai fire station for help in emergencies.

“With the addition of the new fire station, we have more men and equipment to deploy for emergencies,” he said.

The Bandar Putra Kulaijaya fire station has 21 firefighters working in three teams and shifts to be on standby around the clock.

Southern Regional Housing and Local Government senior assistant director Muhammad Hanafiah Sharif handed over the keys to the station to Ghani.

Ghani said the state had 26 fire stations, some of which were in the process of being upgraded.

“We also hope to build more fire stations for the benefit of all,” he said.
