MyTeksi expands network in Penang

GEORGE TOWN (Penang): MyTeksi Sdn Bhd, homegrown Internet-based taxi booking service, aims to penetrate the tourism state of Penang after launching its service here today.

Its general manager, Adelene Foo, said MyTeksi also operated in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Cyberjaya, Selangor, Malacca, Johor, Negeri Sembilan and Sarawak.

She said the ability to adapt and evolve to meet users' needs has ensured the success of MyTeksi regionally.

"We launched our beta trial in April and since then, it has become the largest and most trusted taxi network in Penang with a growth of 500 per cent in booking," she said at the launch of the service here today.

Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng, launched MyTeksi Penang at Fort Cornwallis here today.

Foo said MyTeksi currently has over 1,000 taxi drivers on-the-road and was working to recruit more members in Penang.

She said MyTeksi Penang did not use the meter unlike its operations in other states but the fares were reflective of the local market.

"What we are offering in Penang is reflective of our three core pillars -- safety, certainty and speed -- coupled with transparency as passengers who book know beforehand the estimated fare," she said.

MyTeksi also spread its presence in other parts of this region including Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand under another brand known as "GrabTaxi".-- Bernama
