Strengthen unity, Najib urges Malaysians ahead of Malaysia Day

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib has urged Malaysians to strengthen unity among their fellow countrymen to ward off unsavoury elements that are out to discord among the people.

In his Malaysia Day message, Najib said that strengthening ties among the people should be continued as it was what the annual celebration on Sept 16 was all about.

“Surely, in celebrating such an important moment, we should further strengthen unity that is seen among Malaysians.

“This is very important when there are certain irresponsible elements that want to see discord to occur among us.

“With a solid form of solidarity under the Malaysia name, our country will continue to experience stability, prosperity and wellbeing for a long while,” he said in his blog at najibrazak.com.

Najib said this year, the people would be celebrating Malaysia Day amidst peace and prosperity.

He said the national-level celebration in Miri, Sarawak would see Malaysians converge to celebrate the country’s unity.

“Tomorrow night, I will be at Dataran Kipas in Miri, Sarawak with thousands of people from all walks of life and backgrounds, who are there for the love of their country and have strong patriotic spirit,” he said.
