Cabinet reshuffle will strengthen Unity Government

MELAKA: The new Cabinet line-up announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim yesterday is a solid combination that will further strengthen the administration of the Unity Government.

Melaka Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh, said the change of portfolios and the addition of new ministries is also believed to be able to drive the Madani Government's agenda thus guaranteeing the well-being and prosperity of the people.

"The addition of two more representatives from Umno, namely the Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani and Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad are believed to be able to help build the country together with the Madani Government.

"Congratulations to the ministers and deputy ministers from all parties who will be the backbone to strengthening the existing government," he told reporters after attending a dinner with Melaka educators here last night (December 12).

Yesterday (December 12), Anwar announced the appointment of five ministers and deputy ministers, including four new faces, and the reappointment of five former ministers in the reshuffling of the Unity Government's Cabinet.

The reshuffle saw an expansion in the Cabinet from 28 to 31 members, while Deputy Ministers rising from 27 to 29, bringing the total number of administration members in the Unity Government to 60. — Bernama
