Malaysia Day celebrated in Kerala

KOCHI: Malaysian delegates of an international conference in India observed Malaysia Day here today.

The 56 delegates to the 13th International Tamil Internet Conference sang the Negaraku national anthem and Selamat Hari Lahir Malaysia and waved the national flag to shouts of 1Malaysia and Malaysia Boleh.

The conference is scheduled from Sept 19 to 21 at Pondicherry University.

Delegate R. Chanderan, headmaster of SJK (Tamil) RRI Sungai Buloh, said being in a foreign land was no reason for Malaysians to forget their love for Malaysia.

R. Selvajothi, a doctoral student in linguistics, said observing Malaysia Day in another country was special and most meaningful.

B. Thanesh, a technology education officer from the Education Ministry, said observing the event strengthened the bond among the Malaysian delegates.

“It was moderate but meaningful. It is something you will never forget,” he said. -- BERNAMA
