PM: Financiers should not dismiss those who have failed before

CYBERJAYA: Banks and financial institutions should not classify people who have failed once in their young age as people who were life failures when deciding to support them, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

In reassuring the nation’s youth that the government understood young people, Najib said those who have failed could eventually succeed as they have developed a strong resolve after experiencing setbacks.

“If I go to Silicon Valley (in California), they would tell me that the people they value are the ones who have failed because they do not give up,

“And because they have failed once, they would have eventually found success. We must cultivate this culture,” he said.

Najib said this in his opening speech when launching of the Gathering of the Entrepreneurs Act Together (GREAT 2014) at the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC), here, this evening.

He said GREAT was a government initiative to allow young entrepreneurs to widen their network base, which served as an avenue to provide training, and capital to help them succeed in their respective endeavours.

The four-day event which began today will be held until Sept 21.

It is expected to draw at least 6,000 young innovation and entrepreneurship hopefuls who will help pave the nation's future economy.
