Tricor Malaysia adds 24 clients on Equiniti acquisition

KUALA LUMPUR: Tricor Malaysia, the provider of integrated business, corporate and investor services, gained 24 listed companies as its clients via the acquisition of Equiniti Services Sdn Bhd, thus boosting its share registration business in Malaysia.

“Prior to this acquisition, we were servicing 300 listed companies. With this acquisition, we have added another 24. It is strategic for us as it has positioned us as one of the largest share houses in Malaysia,” says its chief executive officer and managing director Yeap Kok Leong at a press conference, here.

Equiniti Malaysia is one of two companies in the country that are licensed and governed by the Securities Commission to provide issuing house services.

The other is the Malaysia Issuing House, which has been acquired by business process outsourcing services company Symphony House Bhd.

Equiniti Malaysia is now a wholly-owned entity of Tricor Malaysia, renamed as Tricor Investor & Issuing House Services Shd Bhd.

Yeap said he is hopeful that the company will be able to position itself as a top local player in its core business, which includes providing corporate, business and investor services.

“We are here to contribute to the capital market while doing business,” he added.

Tricor Group, which is based in Hong Kong, provides corporate and business services to 35 per cent of the Fortune 500 companies.

“Last year, Tricor group’s total revenue was US$140 million (RM448 million) with close to 1,800 employees. We are looking to expand into Europe other than the existing office in London,” said Tricor group chief executive Johnny Ng.
