UPSR Leak: Two more suspects arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: Police has arrested two more teachers in connection with the leaked Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) papers, yesterday.

   Kuala Lumpur Criminal Investigation Department chief senior assistant commissioner Gan Kong Meng said the two men aged 48 and 51 were picked up in Bedong, Kedah at 5pm.

  “The suspects are expected to be remanded in Putrajaya tomorrow (Friday) morning,” he said.

  With the arrest of the duo, it brings the total number of suspects picked up by the police to 14.

  As of Thursday night, police have recorded 22 statements from teachers, Malaysian Examination Board members, a journalist, an insurance agent, an engineer, to assist probe.

  The suspects are being investigated under Section 8(1) of the Official Secrets Act 1972 for possession of official secrets and communicating such information to others.

  The leak of the Science and English examination papers recently forced 473,175 pupils from 8,384 schools nationwide to re-sit the papers on Sept 30, triggering outrage from parents.
