Kelantan govt should be audited, says Muhyiddin

TUMPAT: The Kelantan government should be audited for a string of mega state projects it has announced, but yet to take-off.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in making the suggestion, said chief on the list was the Kota Baru-Kuala Krai highway, dubbed as "The People's Highway" which was announced in 2012.

Pas had said the construction of the 73km-highway would be publicly funded.

The four-lane dual carriageway was also said to built without toll collection.

"And who knows how much they (the state government) have gotten for the project. RM10 million to RM20 million? They should be audited," said Muhyiddin.

Speaking at Barisan Nasional's ceramah perdana event last night, Muhyiddin also said Pas should stop heaping false promises on the people of Kelantan.

"They have taken the people of Kelantan for a ride. I pity the people here," said Muhyiddin.

He said Pas at the same time must stop committing slander (fitnah) against the ruling BN government to hide their own shortcomings.

"Committing fitnah is a sin bigger than murder. The BN administration had done nothing but working hard to meet the needs of Kelantanese people for example."

Muhyiddin described the act of committing slander was embarrassing for Pas since it was a party supposedly formed to champion Islamic values.

"What kind of an Islamic party is this? The lies they accuse BN of is embarrassing and not because of what was said, but because of Pas is an Islamic," said Muhyiddin.

Earlier, Kelantan Umno chief Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed said Pas should also stop raising issues on state oil royalty because matter would be resolved through an equal disbursement of compassionate fund (wang ehsan) between the federal development department and Kelantan Islamic Council.

He said representatives from Kelantan government - who were also in the special committee in 2012 to study the legality of state's claim on the royalty - also agreed that Kelantan was ineligible to receive the royalty.

"They know this. But they have been selling lies and told the people otherwise to seek political mileage."
