Lin Dan has Seu Bock fretting

TEY Seu Bock is worried sick about the tough challenge that awaits World No 1 Lee Chong Wei in the individual event of the Asian Games.

The men’s singles coach knows that Chong Wei is still recovering from the defeat to China’s Chen Long in the World Championships final, and the possibility of facing five-time world champion Lin Dan in the early rounds in Incheon has Seu Bock uneasy.

“The Asian Games preparation has not been the best for Chong Wei, and I know that he is still feeling down after losing to Chen Long in the World Championships.

“At the Asian Games, he will have to be wary of Lin Dan, who could play him in the early rounds. I’m not saying that Chong Wei can’t beat him, but it’s going to be tough,” Seu Bock said.

The draw for the individual event will take place during the team event.

“No one really knows how good Lin Dan is now, but I would expect him to be like Chong Wei. The two of them are almost the same age, and they are slowing down.

“Younger players like Chen Long are more powerful physically, so it could come down to a match of tactics, if Chong Wei is to play Lin Dan early on.”
