Pengkalan Kubor: Ayu Fashion penetrates international market thanks to govt aid

TUMPAT: "Without government aid, I will not be where I am today. I am successful because the Barisan Nasional (BN) government provides various types of aid," said batik entrepreneur Zainun Abdul Rahman.

Zaiun,53, whose products have penetrated the international market said support of the government had a big impact on her batik business.

"I am grateful to the government for helping batik makers to expand business and generate more income," she said after receiving a visit from Tourism and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz.

Zainun, who has been in the batik business for over 30 years, attended many marketing programmes to promote batik products, including those held overseas.

"The BN government does not make empty promises. I am talking from my own experience. I only had talent and enthusiasm but managed to succeed because of government aid."

She said the government built a large workshop to replace the old workshop a month ago after her batik products managed to penetrate the international market.

"The new workshop can accommodate 30 rolls of cloth compared to 15 rolls of cloth previously."

The government has also set up a gallery to showcase Ayu Batik products.

Kedai Ayu Fashion in Kampung Talak makes 'batik blok' and 'batik lukis' and has 15 employees.
