RM1.5m to aid Palestinians rebuild

SERDANG: Media Prima Berhad (MPB) handed over RM1.5 million from its Palestine Humanitarian Fund to the Perdana Global Peace Foundation (PGPF) yesterday.

The fund will be used to aid Palestinians and for the redevelopment of Palestine.

MPB group adviser for corporate social responsibility Datuk Ahmad A. Talib presented a mock cheque to PGPF president Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad during a Royal Charity Dinner hosted by the latter, who is also chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Foundation to Criminalise War (KLFCW).

Dr Mahathir, in a speech, said the fund would be used to propagate the idea that war was a crime and those who waged war were criminals.

“Through KLFCW, we have formed clubs in secondary schools to teach students that war is an unforgivable crime which kills millions of people and those who resort to war must punished as criminals in a court of law.”

PGPF began with the launching of KLFCW in the first Perdana Global Peace Forum, which was organised by the Perdana Leadership Foundation in December 2005.

The dinner was also graced by Raja Permaisuri Agong Tuanku Hajah Haminah.
