Calls for continuous donations to help autism

ARAU: Members of the public have been urged to continue donating, even small amounts, to the Autism Fund to assist people with autism, said the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail.

He said such donations would be used to cover the cost of medical research and skills, education and development programmes related to the welfare of patients with autism.

“Lack of knowledge about autism, results in failure to recognise and understand autism in children at an early stage hinders their medical process.

“Continuous and sustainable contributions will support the establishment of the National Autism Centre known as the ‘Sacred Jewel’ (Permata Kurnia) which will be build by the government next year,” he said.

Syed Faizuddin, who is also the Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) said this when officiating the North Run and ‘Autism Charity Walk 2014’ organised by the university at the Syed Sirajuddin Areeb Putra Sports Complex in the UniMAP campus, Pauh Putra this morning which saw more than 4,000 participants taking part.

Also present was the Raja Puan Muda Perlis Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, who is the Pro-Chancellor of UniMAP and patron of the Autism Society of Perlis. – BERNAMA
