Nine students detained for allegedly stealing motorcyles

ALOR GAJAH: Nine secondary school students were detained by police recently for allegedly stealing and dismantling motorcycles.

Acting district police chief Deputy Superintendent Abd Rahman Jid said the students, aged 14 and 15, were arrested at their respective homes after a victim lodged a report.

Shop owner, Yau Yu Kam, 58, realised his shop was broken into and discovered six used motorcycles were missing on Sept 20 at 1.30pm at Jalan Sungai Baru Hilir, Kuala Sungai Baru.

Police then conducted a raid and seized a unit of Modenas Kriss and five motorcycle spare part components.

“Checks on the motorcycle components revealed that the parts were obtained from three motorcycles which were reported missing on Sunday. It was believed that the motorcycle frames were thrown away to avoid detection,” he said.

On another matter, Rahman said police arrested a 35-year-old labourer for suspected drug trafficking and seized RM5,000 worth of heroin and syabu at a house in Batu 22 1/2, Jalan Air Molek, Kg Ramuan China Besar, Masjid Tanah near here.

He said police, acting on a tip-off, raided the house at 11.30am on Monday and found 62 packets of heroin and a packet of syabu weighing 152.8g and 0.1g, respectively.

“The suspect was believed to be distributing drugs around Lubok China, Masjid Tanah and Kuala Sungai Baru in Malacca, and Rembau and Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan.
