KUCHING: A teacher who also serves as a dormitory warden at a school in Padawan has been arrested on suspicion of committing sexual abuse against a male student at the school.
Sarawak Police Commissioner, Datuk Mancha Ata said the male teacher, in his 40s, was arrested after the police received a report from the victim's guardian last Sunday at 3.55pm.
Mancha said the incident took place when the suspect brought the 15-year-old male student to his home to attend to him as he was sick.
"However, as the victim was taking a bath, the suspect touched him in a sexually inappropriate manner," he said.
Mancha said the case is now being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 (Act 792).
If the suspect is found guilty, he could face imprisonment of up to 20 years and corporal punishment.
