Duclos set to make Terengganu return

FRESH from three stage wins en route to Harrif Saleh bagging the points classification title in the Tour of Siak in Indonesia last week, the Terengganu Cycling Team’s revamp now looks towards the return of coach Sebastien Duclos.

The 41-year-old Frenchman, who guided the team to the UCI Asia Tour overall teams title in 2012, could be on his way back to Kuala Terengganu after a falling out with the previous management saw him out in the cold for a year.

Duclos had been attached to Brunei-registered CCN Cycling Team and lately with Indonesian outfit Pegasus, but is open about a return to Terengganu.

“Nothing is confirmed yet, but discussions are heading in a good way, so now I am just waiting for the final contract,” said Duclos.

The Terengganu Cycling Team, presently the only UCI Continental Team registered in Malaysia, underwent a revamp recently after a poor season that saw them contest fewer races on the UCI Asia Tour calendar than they ever had.

The team’s management, previously under the Terengganu State secretariat, has now been handed to the Terengganu Sports Council, as was the case during its inception in 2010. By Arnaz M. Khairul
