KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi is now an independent non-executive director of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP).
The announcement of his appointment, effective yesterday, was made by Media Prima Berhad, Malaysia’s largest integrated media group.
Puad, 57, is the former deputy education minister and former Batu Pahat member of parliament.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from Universiti Malaya, Masters in Sociology from State University of New York and PhD from Northern California University.
Media Prima, in a statement, said Puad’s appointment to the Board of NSTP reflected the group’s commitment towards implementing strategic actions to further consolidate its position as the country’s largest integrated media group.
It said Puad brought a wealth of experience and his appointment would complement NSTP’s strong board.
