JOHOR BAHARU: Two girls were feared drowned while bathing in a lake in Taman Nusa Damai, Masai, here today.
Seri Alam police chief Supt Abdul Samad Salleh said the victims were identified as Nurzdriana Nor Hassan, 11 and Yubis anak Semot, 10.
“A policeman at Taman Scientex police station received the report about the incident from one of the victims’ mother at 6.30 pm,” he said when contacted here.
He said the distance between the victims’ houses and the lake was estimated at two kilometres.
Meanwhile, fire and rescue squad’s spokesman said the search and rescue operation to find the two girls was still ongoing with the help of the police and local residents. – BERNAMA
