BATU PAHAT: A 10-year-old boy drowned after he fell off a bridge while fishing in Sungai Lurus, Senggarang here yesterday.
Rengit Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Mohd Khairul Azmi Ngatman said they dispatched seven personnel in a fire engine to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 6.47 pm.
"On reaching the location, they were told a boy had fallen into the sea while fishing on the floating bridge in the area.
"At 9.15 pm, members of the public found his body on the beach located about 200 metres from the spot where he fell," he said in a statement today.
It is learnt that the boy had gone there for fishing with his father. - Bernama
