Inspiring TNB festive commercial

TENAGA Nasional Bhd (TNB) kick-started the Deepavali festivities with the release of its Love & Light television commercial (TVC). Spreading the message of hope and perseverance, the commercial depicts the true meaning of the Festival of Lights.

Produced by Leo Burnett, TNB’s festive reflects the essence of Deepavali advertisement light over darkness; knowledge over ignorance; hope over despair as it celebrates hope and love by sharing the story of Raju, a young man who is on a mission to win the heart of his dream girl.

Despite several failed attempts, Raju’s unwavering determination is rewarded when he finally captures the attention of his neighbour, a young girl named Pritti. It is a story that sends out the message of perseverance, especially in tough times as there is always “light” and happiness in the end. Of course, the love story would not be complete without a little humour.

“This year’s Deepavali TVC is not your typical love story. Our TVC shows that, with determination, perseverance and hope, one can achieve one’s dreams, whatever they may be.

“We wanted to send out a strong message in conjunction with this festive season but at the same time, we wanted it to be entertaining and long-lasting,” said TNB senior general manager (corporate affairs and communications) Datuk Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Amin.

Leo Burnett creative director Iska Hashim said: “As TNB’s creative agency, it was important for us to produce a TVC that is relatable, and we believe our Love & Light message is relevant to Malaysians.

“This TVC serves as a reminder that we can make our dreams a reality, as long as we work hard, persevere and have hope. Also, staying true to TNB’s values and identity, this message is conveyed in a cheerful manner. This year’s TVC is in collaboration with NM Linges who composed a song that fitted the message and tone of our commercial.”
