Body of drowned Myanmar man found

PORT DICKSON: The body of a drowned Myanmar man who disappeared while swimming yesterday was found early this morning.

The body of victim Sena Kanu, 24, was found by rescuers on the beach at the 8th Mile of Pantai Teluk Kemang, about one kilometre away from the location where he had disappeared.

His body was found at 4.45am, and was later taken to the Port Dickson hospital for a post-mortem.

Sena, who came from Selayang, had drowned while swimming with 10 of his friends at around 3pm yesterday.

The victim was using a rented tube when he suddenly sank under the waves and rising tides, said witness Faizi Mohd Yusoff, 28.

Faizi who was on the beach at the time, saw the victim briefly wave for help before disappearing.

"Four of his friends who were close to the victim tried to save him but failed because they could not find the victim who had gone underwater," he said yesterday.

Teluk Kemang Fire Station chief Mohd Izwan Mat Said said they received an emergency call at 3pm and arrived at the scene 15 minutes later.

He said the victim had gone to the beach with his friends for a holiday.

Twenty firemen including divers from the Fire and Rescue Department team with the help of 12 personnel from the Civil Defence Department (JPAM) and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) were involved in the search for the body.
