Resort housekeeper to hang for killing employer

IPOH: The Ipoh High Court today sentenced a 24-year-old former housekeeper to death by hanging for murdering his employer six years ago.

Senior judge Datuk Zainal Adzam Abd Ghani, who was retiring from the judiciary today, ruled that the prosecution had proven its case against Hamzah Osman beyond reasonable doubt.

Hamzah was found guilty of murdering Norazuda Iden, 31, around 1am at Room 202, Suria Beach Resort, Teluk Nipah, Pulau Pangkor on Aug 18, 2008.

Norazuda, who was resort manager and wife of the resort owner, was then five-month pregnant.

Zainal Adzam said the defence, led by Datuk Naran Singh, failed to raise reasonable doubt on the prosecution's case especially pertaining to alibi and other evidential proofs.

Deputy public prosecutor Harris Ong represented the prosecution.
