Stay united, move forward, says Tengku Mizan

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin urged the people of Terengganu to get together hand in hands and stay unite in any aspects regardless the differences.

He said people need to study and follow the holy Quran with open heart and that the Muslim community could move forward to become an example to other nations.

At the same time, he said State Malay tradition and Islamic Religious Council ( MAIDAM) should find ways to produce more international qari or qariah and hafiz and hafizah from Terengganu.

He said the celebration's theme - unity is the pulse of the country's transformation (Perpaduan nadi transformasi negara) should be internalised to avoid any disputes.

Sultan Mizan said this in his speech during the ceremony to celebrate state level Maal Hijrah celebration at Wisma Darul Iman.

Attending the event were Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman and wife Toh Puan Halina Zakaria, State Secretary Datuk Mazlan Ngah and wife Toh Puan Rohani Abdullah, exco members and wife and senior officers.

This year, none was named as Maal Hijrah prominent figure.

tate Secretary Datuk Mazlan Ngah said he had not receive any name from Religious Department for consideration. However, several categories were recognised this year where the winner managed to grab a trophy, RM5000 cash and a certificate.
