Muda to collaborate with Thailand's Move Forward Party

PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) has revealed that an official collaboration with Thailand's Move Forward Party (MFP) is set to take place soon.

Its acting president Amira Aisya Abd Aziz shared the plans for an upcoming meeting with representatives from MFP to formalise the partnership.

"The meeting has already been initiated by meeting with Move Forward Party counterparts in Thailand, where through this meeting, several discussions regarding the way forward for Muda and the Move Forward Party have been explored.

"We will meet again to formalise some collaborations between both parties," she shared in a press conference today.

Post the national elections in Thailand, the MFP, led by Pita Limjaroenrat, encountered challenges as he was suspended from Parliament by the Thai Constitutional Court due to his ownership of shares in a media company, impacting his eligibility for candidacy.

Discussions are also in the pipeline with other like-minded political groups in Southeast Asia.

Amira also highlighted the potential collaboration with another regional partner, the Indonesian Solidarity Party, led by Kaesang Pangarep, the youngest son of Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

She emphasised the goal of establishing robust alliances was to uplift not only Muda but also the country's standing in Southeast Asia.

Addressing the party's stance on political collaborations within nations, Muda reiterated its decision to stand as a third force.

"Muda remains committed to being a third force in the country's political landscape, and this decision stands firm.

"Presently, we position ourselves as the third force in Malaysian politics. Syed Saddiq, despite not holding the presidency, continues to serve as a Member of Parliament representing Muda in the Dewan Rakyat," she stated.

Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman previously withdrew his support from the unity government and declared his role as the third force opposition in the Dewan Rakyat.
