Form Six student reported missing

KUANTAN: The family of a Lower Six student here is seeking help to locate the girl who went missing with a Myanmar man since Monday.

Wong Mei Lee believed that her daughter Tan Wan Lin, 18, left home to meet the man between 5.30am and 7am on that day.  She brought along with her a bag of clothes, some cash and identity card. Wan Lin, the fourth child of six siblings, is a student at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Chenderawasih here.

“I believe that she had eloped with the foreigner based on the letter she left in her room. Among others, she wrote that we should let her be free,” the 44-year-old housewife said in a Press conference organised by Kuantan MCA here yesterday.

Wong said she and her husband Tan Hong Beng, 44, had already met the Myanmar national, Tun Tun Oo.

“We had asked him not to contact our daughter again as we wanted her to focus on her studies. Both of them had also signed a pledge to end their relationship after we lodged a police report on Sept 22,” said Wong.

Kuantan MCA deputy chief Datuk Andy Chiew said the party had also sought help from the police and other agencies to locate Wan Lin.

He said Tun had yet to return to his hometown in Myanmar based on the information given by his relative, who worked at a restaurant here.

He hoped that those with information could contact Wan Lin’s parents at 016-7588568 or 012-9518166.
