BAM confirm their athlete failed doping test

KUALA LUMPUR: THE BA of Malaysia (BAM) finally confirmed that one of their athletes has failed a doping test at one of the major tournaments.

It is the first time the national body has commented on the issue.

Deputy president Datuk Norza Zakaria, however, declined to name the athlete, as the B sample will only be analysed on either Nov 4 or 5.

Norza, will also be spearheading a new working committee that has been formed to work closely with the Sports Ministry in handling the issue which has been linked to World No 1 Lee Chong Wei.

BAM, which held an emergency council meeting today at the Grand Dorsett Hotel in Subang Jaya, also confirmed the banned substance involved is dexamethasone.
