BUKIT KAYU HITAM: General Operations Force had foiled an attempt to smuggle 250kg of ketum leaves to Thailand following the arrest of a trafficker at the border this morning.
The 26-year-old Thai national was flagged off by the GOF personnel in a Mitsubishi Triton in front of the Bukit Kayu Hitam Free Duty Zone here about 9.45am.
Kubang Pasu district police chief Superintendent Abd Rahim Abdullah said upon checking the suspect's pick-up truck, the team found ketum leaves, with streets value of RM7,500 stacked in four containers.
He said the case has been classified under section Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.
