KOTA BARU: Over the past few days, a young man has been showing off his new parrot to his neighbour's children without realising that his action will land him into trouble one day.
The 23-year-old Thai national placed the bird in a cage and carried it with him when he stepped out of his home.
He was however arrested yesterday by the Thai police for illegal possession of the bird under the Wildlife Preservation and Protection Act.
A Thai police spokesman said he was detained in Sungai Golok by a team from the Sungai Golok police station.
"The man who lives in the area, was carrying two cages when he was arrested about 11.30am (Thailand time).
"One of the cages contained the parrot, while another cage is empty," said the spokesman.
