MTUC proposes increment of minimum wage

MALACCA: The Malaysian Trade Union Congress has proposed for the minimum wage for both the private and public sectors be increase to at least RM1,200 per month.

Its president Khalid Atan said the current minimum wage of RM900 for Peninsular Malaysia and RM800 are unpractical due to the higher cost of living.

Speaking at the Workers Day 2014 gathering here today, he also proposed the monthly RM300 COLA allowance to be extended to workers in the private sector.
