Single mum appeals for funds

A 36-YEAR-OLD woman, who had lost her job as a clerk due to kidney failure, is appealing to the public to fund her kidney transplant operation.

Single-parent Noraini Abdul Rahim from Taman Desa Perwira here, was a clerk with a manufacturing company for the past 11 years, but was asked to resign, after her fainting spells during working hours.

She had also taken time off to undergo haemodialysis when she was diagnosed with end-stage renal failure. The mother of a 7-year-old girl, needs about RM80,000 for the operation.

Noraini's future husband is willing to donate his kidney to ensure that she can have a normal life.

However, the couple are unable to fund the operation cost on his earnings.

Noraini is staying with her sister who is also a single mother.

Those who are willing to help can call Noraini's sister Siti Noor Zaira at 017-758 6959 or her consultant nephrologist, Datuk Dr S. Y. Tan, who is the Prince Court Medical Centre's head of the Nephrology & Renal Transplant Services.

Dr Tan is willing to provide information on her condition and operation cost.
