Instedt to offer new programmes next year

JOHOR BARU: THREE new diploma courses will be offered by Institut Sains dan Teknologi Darul Takzim (Instedt) for the coming semester next year.

The courses would be Islamic Jurisprudence and Syariah Law, Maritime Management and Occupational Safety and Health.

Instedt executive chairman Datuk Shahrul Azila Mohd Salleh said this after officiating the institute’s ninth convocation ceremony at Johor Persada International Convention Centre, here, recently.

More than 1,000 guests, including 340 graduates, attended the grand ceremony.

Instedt is a private higher learning establishment which collaborates with other tertiary education institutions such as colleges affiliated with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

Located in Bandar Penawar, Kota Tinggi, Instedt has 90 lecturers and 1,540 students.

“Currently, we offer diploma courses in nursing, business management, accountancy, information technology, tourism management, office management and hotel management, Islamic banking and Islamic studies.

“All our courses are recognised by the Malaysia Qualifications Agency.”

On the convocation, Shahrul said: “Our students are hardworking and with the support of lecturers and parents, many have graduated with flying colours and found employment in the government and private sectors quickly.”

Anugerah Pengerusi Eksekutif (Executive Chairman’s Award) recipient Sofia Jaamad, 23, was overjoyed with the recognition given.

She graduated with a Diploma in Sports Science, scored 3.71 in her CGPA and is continuing her studies in the same field in UiTM.

However, Sofia was upset that her late mother was not by her side.

“My mother is no longer around to see this. She was my inspiration and I will always cherish her love,” she said.

Sofia will also be representing Malaysia in the Asean University Games in Palembang, Indonesia, in the Taekwondo tournament.

Meanwhile the Anugerah Khas Pengerusi Eksekutif (Executive Chairman’s Special Award) was given to Mohd Hazeli Mohd Hafiz Nganli, 21.

He graduated with a Diploma in Information Technology with a CGPA score of 3.72.
