Suzuki sees 10pc sales contribution from new SUV

KUALA LUMPUR: Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Sdn Bhd (SMA) expects the newly-launched C-segment sports utility vehicle (SUV), Suzuki S-Cross, to contribute 10 per cent to its overall sales.

Its managing director Keiichi Suzuki said the SUV was the second to be unveiled in Asia after Singapore.

“We aim to sell about 60 units until the end of the year and about 400 units in the next 12 months,” he told a media conference after the launch, here, yesterday.

Suzuki S-Cross’ key features include a five-year/150,000km extended warranty programme and efficient technologies, making it one of the most economical cars with fuel- saving properties. It is offered in Crystal Lime Metallic, Amethyst Grey Pearl Metallic, Cool White Pearl and Boost Blue Pearl Metallic colours.

The SUV, which is fully imported from Hungary, has already received bookings and enquiries from dealers and customers.

“As of last month, we received a lot of bookings and enquiries on the S-Cross and most of the dealers will be getting the first units by this week,” said SMA chief financial officer Norita Ibrahim.

She said the company is targeting RM500 million sales by the end of its financial year ending March 2015.

“The automotive market has become more stringent and competitive, yet we expect our sales to grow up to 10 per cent,” she added.

The Suzuki S-Cross’ prices on the road (without insurance) are RM129,888 in Peninsular Malaysia, RM133,888 in Sabah and RM134,888 in Sarawak.
