King praises UiTM over GES honour

SHAH ALAM: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah has expressed his pride at Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) being picked as joint organiser of the Global Economic Symposium (GES) recently.

He said the recognition of the government in selecting UiTM to collaborate with Germany in GES in September boosted its image and placed it on the world map.

“I am confident UiTM is capable of building a more illustrious future with the honour given to it recently when it became a joint organiser of GES.

“UiTM is recognised in the organisation of international events. Congratulations UiTM,” he said at the first session of the 81st UiTM Convocation ceremony at Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor at the main campus here, yesterday.

Meanwhile, the recipient of the Seri Paduka Baginda Tuanku Canselor medal for excellence in academic and co-curriculum, Muhammad Azril Izuan Ramlan, regarded the award as special and a present to his family and teaching staff.

The 24-year-old from Rawang, Selangor said his interest in Mass Communications also helped him to excel academically.

“I have received an offer to work at Plus Malaysia Berhad (Plus) as its strategic communication executive after completing my practical training at Plus in September,” said Muhammad Azril who has been working for a year with the company.

A total 31,532 graduates will be receiving their degrees and diplomas at the convocation.
