Lucky 50 win trip to see pandas

KUALA LUMPUR: FIFTY participants of the Senheng Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd’s Panda Lover Spend & Win contest were on cloud nine after being declared winners of the competition.

They won a five-day four-night all-expenses paid trip to visit the renowned Panda Village in Chengdu, China.

During the prize-giving ceremony at Sama-Sama Hotel recently, the winners came prepared with their luggage as they had to board a flight to Chengdu that same evening.

Senheng Electric (KL) Sdn Bhd chief operating officer Lim Kim Yew said: “We ran this contest from June 1 to Aug 31 to celebrate the arrival of the pandas, Xing Xing and Liang Liang, to Malaysia.

“The contest was held in collaboration with SME, Aeon Credit Service (M) Bhd and Citibank.

“It attracted more than 340,000 entries nationwide.

“Senheng PlusOne Membership Card holders who purchased any Samsung products or made payments using Citibank credit cards or the Aeon Easy Payment Scheme were eligible to participate.

“Card holders who spent a minimum of RM999 in a single receipt at any Senheng or SenQ Digital Station outlet were also eligible to participate.

“Of our 50 winners, 16 were from Selangor, seven from Sabah, six from Kuala Lumpur, five from Perak, five from Sarawak, four from Penang, four from Johor, two from Negri Sembilan and one from Malacca.”

One of the winners, Haryanti Hassan, 27, from Shah Alam, said: “I purchased a mobile phone at the Senheng outlet in Section 7, Shah Alam for RM1,800.

“I signed up for the PlusOne Membership Card and took part in the contest. On Oct 5, I received a call from Senheng informing that I had won the competition. I can’t wait to see the pandas.”

Another winner, Ching Nga Kin, 28, who lives in Klang, said: “I went to a Senheng outlet in Bukit Tinggi, Klang in September to buy a new television.

“I took part in the contest and was thrilled when I was informed of my winning.”

During the prize-giving ceremony, Aeon-Xpress Easy Payment’s head of general easy payment Hau Kok Peck, Samsung Malaysia Electronics’ vice-president of mobile, information technology and digital imaging Lee Jui Siang and Lim took turns to present mock cheques to the winners.

Also present was Senheng head of marketing and promotions Daniel Wan.
